Description

Are you struggling to connect with clients who feel disempowered or disengaged in their financial lives? This presentation will focus on providing planners, advisors, and coaches with insights for working with and drawing out these clients. Daniel has focused on working with young widows and dual-military couples in his RIA since launching in 2018 and will share his meeting processes, tactics for entry-level understanding and utilization of SFFT, and the impacts this approach can have on clients. You don’t need to be a therapist to start implementing these helpful approaches right away! You will walk away with a deeper understanding of leveraging a clients’ past strengths, learn how to utilize scaling questions across a variety of topics, and integrate evidence-based, therapeutic techniques of SFFT with to help them feel heard, valued, appreciated, and ultimately empowered in their finances.

Learning Objectives

This session addresses key areas of the CFP® Certification Learning Objectives, including understanding how client attitudes, values, backgrounds, and money beliefs shape financial decision-making. It also incorporates behavioral finance concepts, such as the influence of past experiences and comfort zones on client behavior. Participants will learn counseling principles and effective communication strategies to better build trust, apply active listening, and help clients resolve money-related conflicts. Overall, the session equips planners to empower clients by leveraging their strengths and improving client engagement through evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
