Description

The RMA® certification program maps a complete framework of the retirement planning universe. By presenting and evaluating several schools of thought, particularly on retirement allocation strategies and risk management techniques, advisors from any industry segment can adopt all or part of the best-practice processes. Using a combination of behavioral finance, industry research and practitioner experience, this certification education program can help you to better understand the client's mindset at retirement, as they shift from accumulating and investing assets to funding retirement income.

Learning Objectives

The candidate will be able to analyze the retirement landscape to gain an in-depth understanding of retirement client mindsets and behaviors when starting the retirement planning process. Candidates will gain skills to complete a thorough client discovery and analysis process, assess their clients’ retirement readiness, and counsel clients on managing investment risks during retirement. Understanding retirement portfolio allocations and key retirement planning decisions will be studied in conjunction with portfolio implementation strategies in order to analyze scenarios that best meet the clients’ needs. Candidates will understand the behavioral and psychological reasoning behind the retirement needs and wants of their clients in the implementation of their retirement portfolios. Case study review and analysis will lead to the creation of a Retirement Policy Statement that meets the needs of the case study clients using all skills and knowledge obtained throughout the certification education process.
