Overview

Description

This course delves into the specialized area of individual disability income protection. It pays special attention to the types of disability income protection for personal income. It explores the issues specific to disability relative to personal income loss and the role insurance plays in the income continuation arena. Your client may not be able to continue to take care of their family and pay their bills if they were injured in an accident or became sick from an unexpected illness and unable to work for any length of time? How much money could they count on coming in? Where would it come from? Only a small portion of the American public is covered for income continuation in the event of a disability. Many rely on their group disability coverage through their employers. Still, there are certainly others who are covered by government programs specifically in existence for disability. In any case, an injury or illness that affects their income would create problems for them and their families. Questions for clients should they become disabled: ? Would they have to draw upon their long-term investments to meet their daily living expenses? ? Would their saving for retirement end? ? Would their children’s college educations be in jeopardy? During our income-producing years there are two basic threats to our long-term ability to earn money…Death and Disability. This course explores areas that have a potential disruptive impact on income for individuals and families relative to their recurring streams of incomes, both short and long term as well as for a long-term illness or recovery from an accident.
