Guide to CFP Board’s Technology Standard
This Guide to CFP Board’s Technology Standard is a resource to assist CFP® professionals in complying with the Duty When Selecting, Using and Recommending Technology, outlined in Section A.14 of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct. This guide applies to all technology used to serve clients, including the use of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools.
Additionally, CFP Board also developed sample questionnaires that cover key concepts, and a Technology Evaluation Checklist that CFP® professionals may reference when evaluating their technology. The "Technology Standard" does not require CFP® professionals to ask every question in the sample questionnaires or consider each issue identified in the checklist.
