Description
Every financial advisor has an impact on their clients' tax return, the question is whether they are doing it on purpose. This session will create a roadmap helping financial advisors understand how the financial planning they are already doing is showing up on their client's tax returns. Attendees will also learn best practices for reviewing tax returns to identify planning opportunities, all while staying inside the lines on compliance and not giving tax advice.
Learning Objectives
1) Understand how common financial planning recommendations impact client tax returns
2) Learn how to review tax returns to identify potential tax planning opportunities
3) Discuss where the line is between tax planning and tax advice and how financial advisors can do more for their clients on taxes without creating compliance problems
