Nominations are now open for the 2026 Financial Planning Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame honors visionary individuals whose transformational achievements have fundamentally shaped the financial planning profession, elevated its standards and enhanced its impact on society.

Established in 2025, the program recognizes individuals whose ideas, actions and leadership advanced the profession, raised its profile and helped shape its future. By preserving and celebrating these legacies, the Hall of Fame honors the past and inspires current and future generations of financial planning professionals.

We invite nominations of individuals whose work has left a meaningful and enduring imprint on holistic financial planning.

Who Is Eligible?

The Selection Committee will consider individuals who have made significant contributions that advanced the financial planning profession for the benefit of the public. This includes financial planners, influential journalists, authors, academics, policymakers and innovators who have driven meaningful change. CFP® certification is not required.

Examples include individuals who have:

  • Expanded access to competent, ethical financial advice
  • Advanced critical professional standards (e.g., fiduciary principles, disclosure, ethics, competency requirements)
  • Championed the growth and recognition of CFP® certification in the United States and globally
  • Elevated awareness of financial planning among consumers, firms and policymakers
  • Established groundbreaking educational institutions or academic programs
  • Developed significant technological advances that have benefited the public through financial planning
  • Furthered CFP Board’s mission to credential competent and ethical financial planners, uphold CFP® certification as the recognized standard and advance the financial planning profession

The following are not eligible:

  • Current CFP Board staff
  • Members of the CFP Board of Directors who have served within the past seven years
  • Individuals who are (or become) the subject of public discipline by CFP Board or by a federal, state, local or foreign government agency, self-regulatory organization or other regulatory authority

By submitting this nomination, you affirm that the information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge and grant CFP Board permission to contact you for additional information.

Strong nominations will clearly describe:

  • The transformational achievement(s);
  • The nominee’s personal role and the relevant time period;
  • Specific examples of how the achievement(s) enhanced the financial planning profession in practice, reputation or public impact; and
  • The enduring significance of the nominee’s contributions, including how their work continues to influence or inspire the profession today.
