Imposter Scams Again Top FTC Fraud Complaints: $3.5 Billion Lost in 2025

Financial fraud continues to be a growing concern as imposter scams remain the most-reported type of fraud and losses reach record levels, driven by a relatively small number of victims losing substantial sums. CFP Board research, “Don’t Fall for It: Guarding Against Financial Fraud,” found that 62% of people have either experienced financial fraud or know someone who has in the past three years, highlighting the widespread impact of scams that often exploit emotions such as fear and excitement.
