CFP Board Seeks Comments on Criminal Expungement
CFP Board is seeking public comment on a proposal that would allow expunged criminal convictions to be considered a mitigating factor when evaluating an individual's eligibility for CFP® certification. Under the proposal, the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission would have discretion to determine whether an expungement warrants mitigation, with CFP Board CEO K. Dane Snowden stating that the goal is to balance consideration of individual circumstances with maintaining the ethical standards that underpin CFP certification.
