Just over 25 years ago, the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) was formed through the unification of the International Association of Financial Planning and the Institute of Certified Financial Planners (IAFP). At the time of the merger, CFP® certification was unanimously recognized as the primary designation of the financial planning profession.
