Are You in a Profession?
The financial planning profession shares attributes with traditional professions, such as medicine and law, including competency requirements through CFP Board programs and the CFP® exam, fiduciary standards for practitioners and encouragement of pro bono work. While CFP Board lacks government regulatory powers, it remains the only body working to apply fiduciary standards broadly across financial advice, which the public desperately needs.
