CFP Board Submits Joint Letter to DOL Secretary Chavez-DeRemer Urging Continued Support for Retirement Security Rule

On May 22, 2025, CFP Board, together with the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), and XY Planning Network (XYPN), submitted a letter to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Lori Chavez-DeRemer, regarding the DOL's Retirement Security Rule. In the letter, the organizations thanked Secretary Chavez-DeRemer for supporting the rule last year when she was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and urged the DOL to continue to defend the rule in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The Court is currently holding the appeal in abeyance until June 16, 2025, to allow the DOL time to become familiar with issues presented in the litigation.
