CFP Board Elects 2 Directors
One was the first female SEC commissioner; the other is a chief of financial crimes compliance.
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards’ Board said Tuesday that it has elected two new members specializing in securities regulation and risk and compliance.
Roberta Karmel, the first woman to be appointed a commissioner at the Securities and Exchange Commission — serving in that capacity from September 1977 to February 1980 — is a leading authority on securities regulation.
She is the Centennial Professor of Law and co-director of the Dennis J. Block Center for the Study of International Business Law at Brooklyn Law School in New York.
Karmel becomes the fourth public member of the CFP Board of Directors.
Alexander Rozman heads financial crime compliance and is compliance counsel for CLS Bank International, a leading global multi-currency settlement provider based in New York and London.
