Jill Schlesinger, CFP® to Serve as Senior CFP Board Ambassador
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. today announced that veteran personal finance and business journalist Jill Schlesinger, CFP® is the new Senior CFP Board Ambassador.
As one of LinkedIn’s “Top 10 Influencers,” Schlesinger is well-known for offering financial commentary and tips that are thoughtful, impactful and make a difference. As a renowned financial expert and as a CFP® professional, she is well positioned to serve as the Senior CFP Board Ambassador.
In this new role, Schlesinger will provide consumers with timely personal finance advice, explain how current economic and financial news impacts their lives, encourage people to use the services of CFP® professionals and explain the importance of having a financial plan. Among her duties, Schlesinger will serve as a resource for the press and on social media, and support CFP Board’s Public Awareness Campaign that communicates to the public the value of working CFP® professionals.
She will also regularly contribute articles on financial planning topics to CFP Board’s consumer website, LetsMakeaPlan.org. Her first post, which describes her journey as a CFP® professional, can be found here.

Schlesinger will also lead the CFP Board Ambassador corps – a group of CFP® professionals from around the country who work with their local media and communities, promoting the value of financial planning and working with a CFP® professional.

She will continue to serve as an Emmy-nominated business analyst for CBS News as well as maintain her other outlets, including a podcast, radio program, syndicated column and her website, JillonMoney.com. She is currently a weekly guest on NPR’s “Here and Now”, appears on American Public Media’s “Marketplace Weekend” and is a contributor to Money magazine.
Previously, Schlesinger was the Editor-at-Large for CBS MoneyWatch.com, where she was responsible for video and written content and was part of the team that launched the site. Prior to entering the world of media, she spent time working in financial services, including spending 14 years as the co-owner of and Chief Investment Officer for an independent investment advisory firm.
