CFP Board Appoints UBS Head of Wealth Planning to Chair Council on Education

Washington, DC, May 10, 2010 – Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) and UBS Wealth Management announced today in a joint statement that UBS Head of Wealth Planning in the U.S., Mark Kordes, CFP®, will serve as the new Chair of CFP Board's Council on Education.

Created by CFP Board’s CEO to advise senior staff on the development and clarification of all Education policies of the CFP® Certification process, the Council on Education further provides advice on CFP Board-Registered Program criteria for delivery of personal financial planning coursework at colleges and universities across the United States, continuing education requirements for certification renewal, and CFP Board accepted continuing education programs and sponsors standards.

Mark H. Kordes, CFP®, CLU, ChFC, CAP, AEP, brings more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry to the table as the new Chair of CFP Board’s Council on Education. Kordes joined UBS Wealth Management in April 2004 and is currently the Head of Wealth Planning for the US. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of the Financial Planning platform in all market segments, the Trust & Estate UHNW Consulting Team, Philanthropic Services and the UBS Attorney Network. Prior to UBS, Kordes worked as the Director of Private Planning Services for Merrill Lynch’s Private Banking & Investment Group.
