Learning Objectives

Define and differentiate the four components of OARS: Open-ended questions and prompts, Affirmations, Reflections, and Summaries. Use open-ended questions and prompts to invite clients to explore their thoughts and emotions related to their financial situations. Craft affirmations that recognize client strengths and build positive rapport. Apply reflective listening techniques to clarify what their clients mean. Use reflections more intentionally by carefully choosing what to reflect.
