What To Bring to the Exam
Learn about what items you can bring to the exam and what is prohibited.
What To Bring to the Exam
- A valid, unexpired government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license.
- The name on the ID must be identical to the name under which you are registered.

One or more battery-powered, non-programmable, financial calculator(s). Please read CFP Board’s Calculator Policy for a list of approved calculators. You will need a dedicated financial calculator to assist with examination questions that may require calculations. The calculators listed below are the only calculators allowed into the testing room.

Prohibited Items

No food is allowed in the exam room. Individuals may bring one clear bottle of water with all labels removed into the exam room.
- All exam sites provide access to water fountains located outside of the exam room.
- Individuals who require access to food or liquids for medical reasons during any of the exam sessions are required to file a Testing Accommodations Request Form.
- No notes are allowed in the exam room.
- You will be provided with a scratch paper booklet upon entering the exam room.
- No electronic devices, with the exception of a calculator, are allowed in the exam room. You are not allowed to access electronic devices other than an acceptable calculator during the exam.
