Advisory Bodies
The Center’s work in each of our three focus areas — Talent Pipeline, Diversity and Inclusion, and Knowledge for Practice — is guided by a group of advisory bodies composed of some of the most talented and dedicated thought leaders from within and outside the financial planning profession. Members of these advisory bodies play an important role in setting the Center’s agenda and shaping its programming.
The Advisory Council provides strategic advice and recommendations to CFP Board staff on the Center’s programmatic initiatives. It brings together leaders from across the financial planning ecosystem, including practitioners, firm executives, educators, journalists, communicators, FinTech professionals, and workforce‑focused experts. This diverse group ensures the Center’s work is informed by broad industry insight and aligned with the evolving needs of the profession. Together, they advise CFP Board staff on strategic planning, program development, and measures of success to help build a sustainable and diverse talent pipeline. There are four working groups, composed of Advisory Council members and based on “stages” of the talent pipeline.

The Center’s Development Committee brings together key industry advocates and leaders to provide strategic guidance and help secure the resources needed to advance the Center’s programs. It supports the growth and long-term sustainability of the Center’s initiatives while cultivating enduring relationships with sponsors and donors. The committee also plays a central role in shaping and advancing the CFP Board’s annual fundraising strategy, driving continued growth and lasting impact.
