In order to become a Certified Financial Planner
™ professional, an individual must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the personal financial planning field. To ensure that CFP® professionals remain well-versed in comprehensive financial planning once they have attained CFP® certification, they are required to complete 30 credit hours of continuing education (CE) accepted by CFP Board every two years, including 2 hours of CFP Board-approved Ethics CE.
CFP Board partners with more than 1,000 CE sponsors that offer CE programming to CFP® professionals. CFP Board annually reviews and registers more than 14,000 CE programs covering all aspects of financial planning, offered in varied levels of complexity and delivery format. Pre-accepted CE programs can be found using the Find a CE Program search tool
