CFP® Professionals:
Are You Listed in Our “Find a CFP® Professional” Search Tool?

CFP Board’s websites, www.CFP.net and www.letsmakeaplan.org, prominently feature our “Find a CFP® Professional” search tool, which is designed to connect CFP® professionals with potential clients. If you aren’t currently participating, it is easy to sign up.

For your information to be included in the CFP® professional search tool, you must:

  1. Accept the Terms and Conditions
  2. Indicate that you currently accept new clients;
  3. Identify yourself as a practicing financial planner; and
  4. Include at least once "Search Address" in your CFP® Professional Search Profile.

To participate, or to review your search profile and update your compensation information, log in at www.CFP.net/log-in, access your account, and select the “Update Search Profile” link.

This popular tool now allows CFP® professionals to upload a photo and provide additional information about their businesses, including an optional disclosure or disclaimer statement, and up to 6 business addresses. The tool also includes a new feature that will allow potential clients to contact CFP® professionals with an appointment request or other message directly through CFP Board’s website.

Regardless of whether you choose to participate in the enhanced CFP® professional search function, your information is available to the public through a separate CFP® certification verification function. This verification function allows individuals to confirm a financial planner’s certification status by entering the planner’s first and last name.

If you have questions about CFP Board’s CFP® professional search tool, please contact us at 800-487-1497 or mail@cfpboard.org.
