Feb 02, 2012

February 2, 2012 – Carolynn Tomin, CFP® , has been appointed to serve as the 2012 Chair of the Council on Education, bringing with her expertise as a financial planning educator, currently serving as the program director for Boston University’s Programs for Financial Planning.

“CFP Board prides itself on its rigorous education criteria,” said CFP Board’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin R. Keller, CAE. “I am confident that Carolynn’s expertise and success as an educator will translate to her leadership of the council.”

Tomin has taught estate planning courses and exam reviews for 18 years at universities in Massachusetts and Florida, as well as for many banks and financial service companies in both states. As co-founder of Beacon Hill Financial Educators, she presented continuing education courses to many financial firms, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

“I am excited for the chance to serve CFP Board in this capacity and help raise education standards for the financial planning profession,” said Tomin.

The Council on Education advises CFP Board staff on the development and clarification of all educational policies related to the CFP® certification process and provides input on policies that relate to CFP Board-Registered Programs and Continuing Education Sponsors.

Before becoming Chair, Tomin served for three years on CFP Board’s Council on Education. She has been a member of the FPA for many years and has served on its Southwest Florida chapter’s Board of Directors. She is also a former member of the Boston Estate Planning Council.
