CFP Board Hires Dan Drummond as New Director of Public Relations

Washington DC, June 22, 2010 — Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. announced today that former journalist, Capitol Hill staffer and senior PR agency professional Dan Drummond has been named as its Director of Public Relations at its Washington, D.C. headquarters.

CFP Board has increased and broadened the role of public relations since relocating to Washington, D.C. Drummond will be responsible for, among other things, working with the media and educating key stakeholders, policymakers and the general public about the role of a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and sound financial planning. He will also work closely with the public policy function of CFP Board, giving special focus to policy issues affecting the organization, industry and certificants.

Drummond brings a unique set of experiences and skills, having developed and worked on high-level political, corporate and coalition campaigns, serving as a national spokesperson and providing strategic counsel to Fortune 100 companies. His media and communications skills and understanding of financial services policy make him well suited for an organization that is increasing its presence in the nation’s capital.

Before joining CFP Board, Drummond worked in senior roles at Washington, D.C. public relations agencies including Burson-Marsteller and Powell Tate. Prior to working in the private sector, Drummond was Communications Director for Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) and a reporter, with his last assignment at The Washington Times.
