What tools and materials does CFP Board provide to human resources professionals?
CFP Board has developed a variety of tools and materials for HR professionals to use in informing employees about planning for their financial future. Consumer Guides to Financial Planning, fliers, newsletter stories, PowerPoint presentations and other materials are available free of charge up to a certain number. You also can link to CFP Board's website from your company website or Intranet to provide your employees with additional information about financial planning and a way to search for a CFP® professional in their area. In addition, CFP Board can help coordinate workplace education seminars by enlisting the assistance of volunteer CFP® professionals in your area. Volunteers will not promote themselves, their companies or any products.

Financial Planning Education in the Workplace

How can my organization benefit from providing workplace education about financial planning?
Two of the biggest barriers people face in successfully managing their personal finances are lack of knowledge and denial of the need to plan. You can help your employees overcome these obstacles by providing them with the facts about financial planning and what they need to do to take control of their personal finances. CFP Board has found that employees welcome information about personal financial planning. The best news is that providing this education in the workplace has a positive impact on an employee's well-being and productivity, which creates a win-win situation for both employees and employers.

Retirement Made Simpler: Automatic 401(k)s

Help your employees retire with confidence
Research shows that automating your 401(k) can help your employees save money for retirement. For employees, saving for retirement is automatic. They are enrolled at a pre-set contribution level into pre-selected investment funds and are in the plan unless they opt out. With an automatic 401(k), not only will your employees save more for retirement and experience greater job satisfaction, it will generally be easier for your company to pass nondiscrimination testing.

Where can I learn more?
CFP Board supports the Retirement Made Simpler™ campaign, established by AARP, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and the Retirement Security Project (RSP), in support of automatic 401(k)s to help Americans save more effectively for retirement. Find an Automatic 401(k) Toolkit and the latest research and information to help you better understand, and build support for, 401(k) automation in your workplace at the Retirement Made Simpler website.
