    Despite Concerns, Majority Have No Formal Financial Plan WASHINGTON, DC, September 24, 2009—Preparing for retirement and managing income while in retirement are among the top issues confronting American consumers, according to the 2009 National Consumer Survey on Personal Finance released today by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board). Despite these concerns, however, nearly two thirds of those households do not have a written financial plan.

  • CFP Board Recommends Changes to SEC Custody Rule Proposal

    WASHINGTON, DC, July 30, 2009—CFP Board today recommended that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) exempt from a proposed rule amendment that would require thousands of investment advisers to undergo annual surprise audits by an independent public accountant those advisers who are deemed to have custody of client assets solely because they have the authority to withdraw fees from client accounts.

  • CFP Board Announces Results for March 2009 CFP® Certification Examination

    Washington, DC, May 27, 2009 - Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. today announced that 52.3 percent of the 2,063 individuals who sat for the March 20-21, 2009 CFP® Certification Examination passed. The CFP Board-administered, 10-hour, two-day exam was conducted at 50 sites nationwide.
