CFP Board's Financial Planning Clinic

CFP Board invites you to attend a free Financial Planning Clinic on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at any time between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency at Miami Convention Center, where you’ll be able to meet one-on-one with dozens of volunteer CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals free of charge and discuss your personal finance questions, concerns and interests.

You may seek information and advice on a wide range of topics, including:

• Employee Benefits Planning
• Income Tax Planning

There are no strings attached! Our volunteer CFP® professionals will not ask for your contact information and will not follow up with you after the Clinic.

The Financial Planning Clinic also offers Educational Workshops on diverse and popular financial topics presented by leading experts in personal finance.

How the Financial Planning Clinic Works

The Financial Planning Clinic is a special event where you’ll have an opportunity to address your specific financial questions to professional financial planners who are volunteering their time and expertise to provide you with unbiased financial planning information tailored to your unique situation. All financial planners at the Clinic hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification (CFP® certification) and are highly qualified to discuss your financial issues to help you find the answers you need.

At the Clinic, each volunteer will be seated at a table designated for a specific financial planning topic. You can decide what topic you’re interested in and head over to the appropriate table. The volunteer CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals will meet with only one individual, couple or family at a time but there is no limit to the number of volunteers you can meet with.

Upon arrival at the Clinic, you will stop at the Clinic registration desk and pick up an information package. You will then be directed to our orientation session, a 15-minute briefing designed to help you get the most out of the Clinic. During the briefing, you will learn more about financial planning topics and examples of questions that you can ask the volunteers so that you can get the most out of your Financial Planning Clinic experience.

No Selling and No Strings Attached!

Financial information provided by CFP® professionals is free and tailored to your needs. The volunteer CFP® professionals are not allowed to sell products or services or hand out business cards or marketing materials. In other words, there are no strings attached. CFP Board hopes that events like the Financial Planning Clinic will help people experience first-hand how financial planning can improve their lives and bring the expertise of CFP® professionals to people who normally may not have access to reliable and responsible financial planning information.

Any attendee who wishes to follow-up with a volunteer CFP® professional will have access to the volunteers' names and contact information in the information package provided at registration.

The Financial Planning Clinics further CFP Board's mission of serving the public by upholding the CFP® certification as the recognized standard of excellence in personal financial planning. Financial Planning Clinics held in Los Angeles and Boston were resounding successes for thousands of consumers who attended, as well as for the hundreds of CFP® professionals who gave back to their communities by sharing their talents.

The events were covered by more than 90 media outlets, including ABC, CBS, NBC's Telemundo, The Los Angeles Times and The Boston Globe, as well as numerous other TV and radio stations, newspapers and online publications. Free Registration

Free registration for the Financial Planning Clinic is quick and easy. Simply complete the online registration form. We will not sell your e-mail address or use it for any purpose other than communications about the 2008 Financial Planning Clinic in Miami.

Walk-ins to the Financial Planning Clinic are welcome, but admission will be granted first to those who have registered online. We expect a large crowd, so we encourage you to register early.
