CFP Board's 2008 Financial Planning Clinic in Miami

CFP Board invites you to attend a free Financial Planning Clinic in Miami on Saturday, November 15, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency at Miami Convention Center. This special event will bring together CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals from around the country who will share their time and expertise with the general public by answering consumers' financial questions free of charge. Consumers will be able to speak one-on-one with volunteer CFP® professionals and sort out their personal finance questions and concerns, including questions on a wide range of financial topics:

• General Financial Planning
• Retirement Planning
• Investment Planning
• Income Tax Planning
• Estate Planning
• Insurance Planning
• Employee Benefits Planning

What is a Financial Planning Clinic?

At the free Financial Planning Clinic, volunteers are seated at tables designated for specific financial planning topics. Consumers will choose any topic they are interested in and head over to the appropriate table to receive free assistance with their financial questions.

Clinic attendees will be required to attend an informational 15-minute briefing before they enter the Clinic to speak with a CFP® professional. During the briefing, attendees learn about financial planning topics and see examples of questions they can ask the volunteers in order to get the most out of their Financial Planning Clinic experience.

In addition to personalized financial planning information, the Financial Planning Clinic offers Educational Workshops on diverse and informative financial topics presented by leading experts in personal finance who hold the CFP® certification.

CFP Board has organized the Financial Planning Clinic to further its mission of serving the public by upholding the CFP® certification as the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning.

No Selling and No Strings Attached!

Financial information provided by CFP® professionals is free, plain and simple. The volunteer CFP® professionals are not allowed to sell products or services or hand out business cards or marketing materials. In other words, no strings attached. CFP Board hopes that events like the Financial Planning Clinic will help people experience first-hand how financial planning can improve their lives and bring the expertise of CFP® professionals to people who normally may not have access to reliable and responsible financial planning information.

Any attendee who wishes to follow-up with a volunteer CFP® professional will have access to the volunteers' names and contact information. Attendees will also receive other helpful financial planning information in the Financial Planning Resource Booklet they will receive as they enter the Clinic.

Past Financial Planning Clinics Popular with the Public

The Financial Planning Clinics held in Los Angeles and Boston were resounding successes for thousands of consumers who attended, as well as for the hundreds of CFP® professionals who gave back to their communities by sharing their talents. More than 95% of past attendees who were surveyed indicated that they would recommend the Clinic to someone else, while the same percentage of past volunteers said that they would participate again.

The events were covered by more than 90 media outlets, including ABC, CBS, NBC's Telemundo, The Los Angeles Times and The Boston Globe, as well as numerous other TV and radio stations, newspapers and online publications.
