Tax Tables

Download the tax tables provided in all exam books for the March 2010 CFP® Certification Examination.

The CFP® Certification Examination tests current tax law, and the tax tables and other indexed numbers provided to examinees with the exam booklets will reflect current year tax law, with the exception of any recent tax law changes signed into law six months or less prior to the exam administration date. For example, a tax law signed into law in January would not be eligible for testing on the March exam but would be eligible for testing on the July exam and thereafter.

Important Note about the March 2010 CFP® Exam Tax Tables: The March 2010 exam will include questions covering estate tax and Roth IRA conversion changes that were enacted into law in 2001 and 2006, respectively, and became effective January 2010. Examinees do not need to memorize these values; these tax tables and indexed numbers are provided with the exam booklets for reference during the exam.

In the past, annual updates to tax tables and other indexed numbers taking effect with the new calendar year first appeared in July administrations of the CFP® Certification Examination, while March exam administrations texted prior year numbers. CFP Board and its Council on Examinations recently reconsidered that practice. Beginning with the March 2010 exam, all indexed numbers will be current, with the exception of any recent tax law changes signed into law six months or less prior to the exam administration date. This change to the tax laws covered by March exams was adopted to maintain the validity and currency of the CFP® exam’s content, so that it accurately tests the knowledge and skills utilized by practicing financial planners. CFP Board has flagged all March 2010 exam questions that may be “tax law”-sensitive for special scrutiny by the psychometricians during the scoring process to assure that examinees are not adversely affected by this change.
