March 2012 CFP® Exam Update

(Febuary 2, 2012): Registration is now closed for the March 2012 CFP® Certification Examination. The Withdrawal Deadline is February 7.

This informational Webinar, held on July 30, 2009, was designed to prepare individuals who have taken the CFP® Certification Examination for the next steps in the CFP® certification process.

This Webinar provides background on how the CFP® exam is scored, shares details about the CFP® exam score release process, and explains how to interpret the CFP® exam diagnostic summary report. The Webinar provides guidance on the next steps of the CFP® certification process, with instructions for providing documentation verifying completion of a qualified bachelor's degree and relevant work experience. Additionally, the Webinar addresses CFP Board's Fitness Standards for Candidates and Registrants and the ethical requirements for CFP® certification, including the background checks performed on all individuals who have applied to use the CFP® marks.

About the CFP® Certification Examination

The CFP® Certification Examination is designed to assess your ability to apply financial planning knowledge to real-life financial planning situations. By passing this exam, you demonstrate to the public that you are at the appropriate level of competency required to practice financial planning.

The CFP® Certification Examination is scheduled to last 10 hours over a day and a half and is held three times a year, generally on the third Friday and Saturday of March, July and November. The exam is a pencil-and-paper format and consists of one four-hour session on Friday afternoon, and two three-hour sessions on Saturday. Exam locations are available in more than 50 locations around the U.S.

The CFP® Certification Examination is a pass or fail exam. Exam results are released approximately eight weeks after the exam date and are delivered via first class mail.
