SPOTLIGHT SPEAKERS:

Her Majesty Queen Noor
Since her marriage to His Majesty King Hussein in 1978, Her Majesty Queen Noor has initiated, directed, and sponsored projects and activities in Jordan. She specifically addressed national development needs in the areas of education, culture, women and children's welfare, human rights, conflict resolution, environmental and architectural conservation, and urban planning. Her Majesty Queen Noor is a leading voice for the understanding of Middle Eastern politics, Arab-Western relations and global issues.

 

Senator Bob Kerrey
For twelve years prior to becoming President of The New School, a university in New York City with eight schools serving more than 23,000 students annually, Bob Kerrey represented the State of Nebraska in the United States Senate. Before that he served as Nebraska's Governor for four years. Educated in pharmacy at the University of Nebraska, Bob Kerrey served three years in the United States Navy. After his military service, he started a chain of restaurants and health clubs in Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. Bob Kerrey entered the race for Governor of Nebraska with no prior political experience and was elected as a Democrat in a heavily Republican State.

Former SEC Commissioner Cynthia Glassman
Cynthia A. Glassman was appointed by President Bush to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and sworn in on January 28, 2002. She served as Acting Chairman during the summer of 2005. While on the Commission, Glassman was a strong advocate for investor protection. Glassman recently resigned her position and has been nominated to become Undersecretary of Commerce. Prior to being appointed Commissioner, Dr. Glassman spent over 30 years in the public and private sectors focusing on financial services regulatory and public policy issues.

NASD's Mary Schapiro
Mary Schapiro is Vice Chairman of NASD, the world's largest private sector securities regulator, and President of the Regulatory Policy and Oversight Division. As the primary regulator of U.S. securities brokerage firms and the nearly 700,000 registered brokers who do business with the public, the Regulatory Policy and Oversight Division writes rules that govern the conduct of virtually all aspects of the securities business, including sales practices and financial and operational integrity; examining firms for compliance with those rules; and enforcement of NASD rules and other securities rules and laws. Schapiro is NASD's next Chairman and CEO, effective December 2006.

Robert Duvall, CEO of National Council on Economic Education
As CEO of National Council on Economic Education, a non-profit organization that promotes economic and financial literacy in schools, Duvall is spokesman for the cause of making economic and financial education a core component of the pre-college curriculum.

 

Jack Guttentag, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
Guttentag is Professor of Finance Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. Popularly known as "The Mortgage Professor," he previously served as the Chief of the Domestic Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the senior staff of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and the managing editor of both the Journal of Finance and the Housing Finance Review.
